Pre-Celebration Events
Friday, May 8
7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Miss Bishop Contest, High School Auditorium. Admission.
Winner will reign over activities of the Centennial Celebration.
Thursday, May 13
12:00 Noon Church bells peal to initiate the celebration.
All Day
Centennial Museum - New Bishop High School. Staged by
volunteers. General store in museum. Novelties and memorabilia will
be available, plus a Hospitality Center which will provide information
about the weekend acitivties and also welcome visitors.

Centennial Parade, including children’s parade, beginning at Bishop
Primary, ending at Ed Gorny Stadium.
10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Motorcycle Stunt Show
Car Club Display
Centennial activities in the City Park with concessions, children’s
contests and activities, continuous entertainment at pavilion,
numerous arts & crafts, vendor booths, little league baseball
games and much more.

Time Capsules - 1960 capsule opening & burying of new one to be
opened in year 2060 - City Park
6:30 p.m.
Final judging of beard-growing contest, awards to oldest man and
woman in continuous residence in Bishop, award to person travelling
furthest distance to attend celebration.
7:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. Street Dance - City Park Pavilion. Free admission.
8:30 p.m.
Fireworks Display - City Park
9:00 p.m.
Private groups activities, class reunion functions (not sponsored by
Centennial Celebration).
Sunday, May 16
10:45 a.m. - 12 noon Centennial Celebration observance in all churches. Theme:
“One Hundred Years of Religious Heritage in Bishop”
12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Individual church activities, covered dish luncheons,
picnics, fellowship.
2:00 p.m.
Centennial Celebration officially ends.
